FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between optometrists and ophthalmologists?

An optometrist provides primary vision care ranging from testing, diagnosis, treatment, and management of changes in vision. An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor specializing in eye and vision care. In addition to treating vision, ophthalmologists can diagnose and treat eye diseases and perform eye surgery. Unlike many other eye centers, you’ll have the well-rounded expertise at Anchor Eye Center for both vision and eye disease care.

Can we buy our glasses online if you give us our prescription?

Yes, you can buy your prescription glasses online, from the comfort of your home! We know your life can be busy. Purchasing your eyeglasses at our online store is simple and straightforward. It doesn’t get any easier than Anchor Eye Center!

How often do I need to get new eyeglasses?

Various factors determine when you need new eyeglasses. Changes in your eyes, your lifestyle, or style preference are common reasons. We recommend visiting us at least once a year for a routine checkup, so we can help you determine if any changes need to be made. If you’re experiencing headaches or vision problems with your glasses, it’s best to consult us right away.

How can I prolong the life of my eyewear?

Always make sure to follow your optician’s instructions for properly caring for your eyewear. If you’re worried about damaging your glasses, select frames with spring hinges, allowing for more flexibility. Ask us to apply scratch-resistant coating to your lenses as well.

Should I purchase daily wear or extended wear contact lenses?

Several factors go into determining the types of contacts to wear: your eyes, any eye diseases you may have, and your lifestyle. Our eye doctors will ask you questions to help determine which lenses work best and give you several recommendations.

How old do you have to be to wear contacts?

We prescribe contact lenses for your whole family at Anchor Eye Center. There is no age minimum to wear contact lenses. We’ll walk with you to determine if wearing contact lenses is right for you or your loved ones.
